I Miss My Bestfriend.

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 | Author: bre .

Curtis came over for what felt the millionth time, we decided to play baseball . so we quickly rushed to my backyard , and he wanted to be batter . i pitched , he swung it so hard , he broke my neighbors window . i just went to the ground laughing , and she still don’t know . i’ll never how he cared for me like my brother’s would . but he did it better . i’d run to him if i had a bad day , or when i just needed a hug or some advice from a pal . i’ll miss him until the day that i die .

Spirit In The Sky

Thursday, November 26th, 2009 | Author: Bette Hoiland

This is the song played at a friends funeral. Friends and family members sang this as they walked out of the church. For such a sad day it put smiles on our faces. Curtis was a fan of cats that is why I picked this version. Heres to you Curtis, Our Spirit In The Sky.  Happy Thanksgiving to the Holter Family.

Thanksgiving

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 | Author: Amanda Hoiland

Happy Thanksgiving Curtis!

It would have been sad if you died in any month, the death of a child is unfathinable but that fact that it was the end of September, a month from you birthday and Thanksgiving, and two months from Christmas and New Years makes it seem harder, at least for me. It’s hard to see what there is to be thankful for when such a young, good soul is taken from us like you were, but we can be thankful that we got to have you for the time we did. We can charish those memories and good times that you brought to so many. When you look down from heaven you  help take care of you family, especially during the up coming holidays. I know you will be with them in spirit, smiling down at them with that great big smile that was larger than life.

Have a happy Thanksgiving Holter family, you may not be able to see him but I know Curtis will be with you every minute.

Love,

Amanda

A Poem For Curtis Collin Holter.

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 | Author: CurtisMissed4ever

Just your average day, btwe wont be enjoying tomorrow.

If you could have waited a minute, or maybe even an hour.

Accidents happen, but this was the loss of a yong boys life.

You have been reserected into god bright light.

As much as we didnt want you to go, god was calling you.

Curtis Collin Holter, would be the next one.

Your name stills rolls off peoples toungs, because they miss you so.

I miss you so much right now, I’ll never let you go.

I promise you were my one true friend, but now whos really here to mend?

i cant elieve your really gone, i wish it was fake, or even pretend.

But for me, its more like a never ending night mare, that should have never began.

Curtis I love you, and i just wanted you to know, i will always care, and you leaving me here, it really wasnt fair.

Letter to the Editor, Faribault Daily News, 11/22/09:

The Bible tells us that the Lord can make beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3).
On Wednesday, September 30th, tragedy struck our community when 12-year old Curtis Holter was struck and killed by a truck. The Holter family, his friends, classmates and school, his church & youth group, the entire community experienced a tragic loss. It left a great wound and there are still unanswered questions. Why him? Why now? How?
While we may never have all the answers we might look for, we can stand assured that the Lord knows all, including the depths of our pain.
The Bible also tells us that in all things God works for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28).
Last Saturday, November 14th, at the Faribault Community Center, I was honored to witness ashes turning into beauty, good coming from tragedy. Curtis’ youth group from the Faribault Evangelical Free Church hosted a Celebrate Curtis Event, inviting students in our community to honor Curtis’ memory by celebrating some of the things he enjoyed most. Over 200 students were in attendance, along with many of the Holter family. There was lots of fun, laughter, games and prizes (thanks to all the area businesses who generously donated: Wal-Mart, HyVee, Nelsons, Taco Johns, Basilleos, Arbys, KFC, A&W, Bostons, Burkhartzmeyers, Dairy Queen, Jimmy Johns, Cinema 6, & the Bowling Center) as well as some tears and hugs. Sheriff Cook presented a certificate of valor to Curtis’ friend Jeff who stuck near him at the accident. Over 200 non-perishable food items were donated to the Faribault Food Shelf.
But what I was most impressed with was the way a community came together to honor this young man, support his family, and help our youth heal and grow. Through this tragedy we see glimpses of beauty. From this loss God is working out good.
Thank you to Faribault Park & Rec. for their support; to the Rice County Chemical Health Coalition and it’s mini-grant program; to Sheriff Cook for his encouraging words; to the Holter family for their servant hearts.

You Will Always Be Lnown As Jack To Me

Thursday, November 12th, 2009 | Author: ripJack

On the 1st day of right start, Curtis was in my class. 1 of my friends was in our class to. My friend had a huge crush on Curtis! I told Curtis and he wanted me 2 ask my friend out 4 him! So I did. I remember that long week w/ the 2  staring at each other and talking constantly!!

Then on the 1st day of 6th grade, it was me, Curtis, and 3 of my friends at gym in 7th hour. None of us knew his name at 1st so we decided 2 call him Jack! So we kept on calling him Jack, while he kept saying that wasn’t his name. I asked him what his name was and he wouldn’t tell me! So the nick name Jack stuck! Me and my 3 friends called him Jack. We later found out that his name was Curtis. We never called him Curtis because the name Jack just kinda stuck w/ him.

When we found out that he passed away, we were all in tears…. we were extremely sad of the loss and that our Jack was no longer w/ us :( We are all still really sad and are very sorry 4 the loss of “Jack.” I’m really soryy that this had 2 happen so soon :( But we will always remember him as “Jack” :)

Love always,

-Kaylee-
