A Poem For Curtis Collin Holter.

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 | Author: CurtisMissed4ever

Just your average day, btwe wont be enjoying tomorrow.

If you could have waited a minute, or maybe even an hour.

Accidents happen, but this was the loss of a yong boys life.

You have been reserected into god bright light.

As much as we didnt want you to go, god was calling you.

Curtis Collin Holter, would be the next one.

Your name stills rolls off peoples toungs, because they miss you so.

I miss you so much right now, I’ll never let you go.

I promise you were my one true friend, but now whos really here to mend?

i cant elieve your really gone, i wish it was fake, or even pretend.

But for me, its more like a never ending night mare, that should have never began.

Curtis I love you, and i just wanted you to know, i will always care, and you leaving me here, it really wasnt fair.

Letter to the Editor, Faribault Daily News, 11/22/09:

The Bible tells us that the Lord can make beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3).
On Wednesday, September 30th, tragedy struck our community when 12-year old Curtis Holter was struck and killed by a truck. The Holter family, his friends, classmates and school, his church & youth group, the entire community experienced a tragic loss. It left a great wound and there are still unanswered questions. Why him? Why now? How?
While we may never have all the answers we might look for, we can stand assured that the Lord knows all, including the depths of our pain.
The Bible also tells us that in all things God works for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28).
Last Saturday, November 14th, at the Faribault Community Center, I was honored to witness ashes turning into beauty, good coming from tragedy. Curtis’ youth group from the Faribault Evangelical Free Church hosted a Celebrate Curtis Event, inviting students in our community to honor Curtis’ memory by celebrating some of the things he enjoyed most. Over 200 students were in attendance, along with many of the Holter family. There was lots of fun, laughter, games and prizes (thanks to all the area businesses who generously donated: Wal-Mart, HyVee, Nelsons, Taco Johns, Basilleos, Arbys, KFC, A&W, Bostons, Burkhartzmeyers, Dairy Queen, Jimmy Johns, Cinema 6, & the Bowling Center) as well as some tears and hugs. Sheriff Cook presented a certificate of valor to Curtis’ friend Jeff who stuck near him at the accident. Over 200 non-perishable food items were donated to the Faribault Food Shelf.
But what I was most impressed with was the way a community came together to honor this young man, support his family, and help our youth heal and grow. Through this tragedy we see glimpses of beauty. From this loss God is working out good.
Thank you to Faribault Park & Rec. for their support; to the Rice County Chemical Health Coalition and it’s mini-grant program; to Sheriff Cook for his encouraging words; to the Holter family for their servant hearts.

What We Did For Curtis’ Birthday

Sunday, November 08th, 2009 | Author: Patty Holter
In the morning, we asked the kids if they wanted to stay home from school.
Joshua and Mikayla did, Tommy wanted to go to school.

We decided to go to Curtis’ favorite restaurant which is called, Maggioni’s Little Italy.  The restaurant is located at the south entrance of Southdale Mall. We sat in the same booth as Curtis and I sat, in August.

Curtis loved the cream of potatoe soup, so I ordered the soup.
Brad, Mikayla, and Joshua had spaghetti.
The waitress brought out homemade bread (hot) with our food.

The manager came over and remembered me from coming there in August with Curtis.
Curtis was alone with me that day so we had a special time together.
I had shared with them how much he liked the soup.

So, we finished our meal and the waitress asked if we were in a hurry.  I said, “No, we were not in a hurry.”
The waitress, said “Good, I have a surprise for all of you.”
We were wondering with anticipation what our surprise was.
Our waitress than emerges with a platter they called, The VIP dessert platter.”
We were all full from our delicious food, but could not resist the dessert in front of us.
It was Pumpkin cheesecake, cherry chocolate dessert and another chocolate dessert.
It was wonderful.  We had a few bites of each.
The waitress packaged our leftovers, including the wonderful desserts and left the bill with us and walked away.
Brad opened the bill with his credit card ready to put inside for payment.
We were shocked to see, amount owed, $0.00.

God blessed us this day.  The waitress, manager and the entire staff could not have been any nicer.
Our waitress has put a birthday wish on Curtis website.  Very sweet.

We than went to Sam’s Club and bought a birthday cake for Curtis and my Dad.
Curtis birthday is Nov. 4th and my Dad’s birthday was Nov. 3rd.
Curtis is buried next to my Dad at Calvary in front of the door.

We brought the birthday cake along with balloons to the cemetery with a few family members.
We sang Happy Birthday to my Dad first.
We than came over to Curtis grave, we joined hands and preceded to sing him Happy Birthday.
The words did not come.  We were overwhelmed with tears.
I kept thinking about when I carried him in my stomach for 9 months and how he did not want to come out.
I kept thinking how it did not seem fair that he was so young.
I kept thinking about what he would have been.

I am experiencing a great loss and I do not know how anyone can get through something like this without Jesus.
I picture Curtis laying in the road the day he was ran over, and Jesus dressed in white, picking his injured little body up off the pavement and carrying him home.

We have comfort knowing he is not in pain, and he is with Jesus.
Each and everyday has some challenges, we will persevere through this and I want to thank each and everyone of you for helping us during this time.

Love, The Holter family

Always In Our Hearts

What a great website this is, and a wonderful way to keep Curtis’s memory alive. This will always be here so friends, family, anyone who has been touched by Curtis in one way or another, I hope you will post a message. Its a wonderful gift to the family and Curtis.

To the girl who wrote the song, WOW, that was great, and I bet someone who see this will get ahold of you and put it to music. That was very nice, if you wrote that you are a very talented young lady. I agree with you that Curtis is an angel, and I truely believe he is with all of us in spirit, we just can’t see him. He will probably play some tricks on you, or help you find something you have lost. Just ask him and see if the item is found.

I have known Patty almost my whole life, she is one of my dearest friends. When I looked at Curtis I seen so much of her. He was outgoing, loving, beautiful, kindhearted, they say the apple does not fall to far from the tree.

Post something guys, Curtis will never be forgotten.

A New Friend

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 | Author: cristianD

It was the first week of school and I was hanging out with another friend, waiting for my bus. We got bored, so we just started walking around. My friend saw a kid he knew and Curtis was standing by him. We went where the other kid was and I  just started talking to Curtis. The next day I noticed he was in my science class. After that I always hung out with him; when we got time to go outside for lunch and after school. Curtis was one of my best friends and I will  always remember him.
